“Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinion drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” — Steve Jobs
Following is some tips to increase your energy and live a happier, healthier and more productive life:
1. eat nourishing food
We all know that having balance meals is essential for our well-being, but it's common to
regard healthy eating primarily as a tool for weight loss. However, a balanced diet contain
high in fruits and vegetables, lean protein, low-fat dairy and whole grains is what you need for optimal energy. Eating junk food on a regular basis can lead to an increased risk of obesity and chronic diseases (a disease or condition that usually lasts for 3 months or longer and may get worse overtime).
2. sleep at least 7 to 8 hours a night
Sleep is very important to us. It is an essential function that allows our body and mind to
recharge, leaving you refreshed and alert when you wake up. Having a healthy sleep also
helps the body remain healthy and avoid diseases, without enough sleep, your brain cannot
function properly.
3. keep company with good people
Try to maximize the amount of time you are spending with other people, physiologically,
being around other people makes us healthier. While not having a social support system is
actually a source of chronic stress for our bodies. Studies show that when people feel lonelier they have higher levels of stress hormone.
4. avoid news overdose
It is important to keep updated with what's happening around the world, however, the more
we pay attention to, the higher our stress level becomes. This is due to the news too
frequently filled with stories of suffering, these stories could skew your view of the world and
cause you to focus on the worst fears instead of the good. For example, the pandemic, lots of people got stressed out because of this, but what they couldn't see is the cautions we have to take to avoid diseases.
5. get regular exercise
Exercise relieves stress and tension, strengthens muscles and boosts endurance, which
helps our bodies to work more efficiently during other physical tasks or activities. Exercise
delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work
more efficiently, and when your heart and lung health improve, you have more energy to
tackle daily chores.
6. do something meaningful
What do you enjoy the most about? What kind of thing, talent that makes you special from
others? Even if it's just as simple as cooking a healthy meal, listening to your favorite song
etc. Putting effort into the things that matter to you could help utilize and reserve your energy in ways that will bring out the best of you.
7. think good thoughts for others
Maintaining a compassionate mindset is another way to conserve energy, it can be as simple as making eye contact with a stranger and smile or saying "thank you". People always says how you treat others is the reflection of how you treat yourself. These positive act can keep you from judging people, judging others can cause us to place judgement on ourselves and that type of negative internal dialogue can be exhausting.
